to lead and train our wonderful staff.
We believe in the power of positive mentor relationships and do everything we can to foster an environment in which staff can continue to grow in their abilities as camp counselors. Our Leadership Team mainly consists of year round teachers and child educators who then devote their summer breaks to making Cali Camp the magical place that it is for our families. Our team starts meeting in early April, spending countless hours leading up to camp planning, strategizing and creating our amazing 4 day staff training, as well as our daily camp programs.
Our 2024 Leadership team consists of 10 individuals, who combined have over 120 years of Cali Camp experience. Our team puts their hearts into making Cali Camp a true place of Laughter, Growth and Adventure.
Meet Our Assistant Camp Directors
Josh “Nugget” Walker is celebrating his 12th summer at Cali Camp. Nugget started as a Lifeguard, was then promoted to Pool Coordinator and joined our Leadership Team 9 years ago. Outside of camp Nugget works as a Behavior Therapist and Middle School Sports Coach. He is an avid sports enthusiast, “Survivor” fanatic, enjoys playing cards, and is best known at camp for his pranks and rendition of the Ronald McDonald song.
Julia “Hoops” Lewis has been attending Cali Camp since she was 3 years old, and is now celebrating her 16th summer as a staff member. This will be her 6th summer on our leadership team and is a self proclaimed Cali Camp die-hard. Outside of camp, Hoops works as an Elementary School Teacher at Welby Way. She is an avid crafter, song leader, “Swiftie” and mother to the best fur baby, Bondi.
